A friendly rivalry fueled James and Trudy’s relationship for 45 years. When James was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, that competitive spirit came in handy.
Battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia as a Team
Whether it’s golf or dominos, a friendly rivalry fueled James and Trudy’s relationship for more than four decades. One Christmas James was about to give a holiday toast when the phone rang. It was his doctor. James had chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) with 17p deletion – an aggressive form of CLL.
Suddenly those 45 years of competition came in handy as James and Trudy faced a new foe – cancer. Since James’ diagnosis, they have battled CLL together while keeping the spirit of competition alive and well in their golf swing and daily game of dominos. Just don’t ask them who won.
